Over the course of much of 2015-2016, the Ofori-Amoah family purchased basic school supplies at their own expense, with the goal of eventually gathering enough to make a difference. As their garage at their home in Western Michigan filled with the fruits of this labor, so too did word spread of the effort. Soon, friends and fellow church-goers began to donate books, pencils, markers, glue, tape and all kinds of supplies that we so often take for granted where we live.
Update: Since 2020, the family has followed up with additional trips, and continues to regularly ship supplies to children in need as of 2024.
What was accomplished:
1.
Through generous donations and over the course of 2 years, the family accumulated thousands of the supplies needed.
2.
During a trip in 2016, the family distributed all supplies to every enrolled student and school-age child in the village, acknowledging that these efforts were only just begun.
3.
The family continues to gather donations that are distributed annually to all school-age children in the region.
